Nah, don\’t think it can manage to get in between the teeth to get the stuck food particle out. A sponge cannot replace bristles for sure. May be a combination of two can work well :)

Rightly said!!! a combination of sponge and bristles can be winsome! :)

Also, over a period of time, i think the sponge will start stinking, like the way out kitchen sponges do.. ;)
